Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – April 27, 2026 – The Chief Executive Officer of UONGOZI Institute, Kadari Singo, has underscored the importance of strong global partnerships in driving sustainable development and effective leadership across Africa.
Speaking during a high-level regional engagement held in Addis Ababa, Singo expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration between the institute and its international partners, noting that such partnerships have played a key role in advancing policy dialogue, strengthening institutions, and promoting inclusive growth on the continent.
He referenced the successful engagement held last year in Kampala, describing it as a foundation for the ongoing discussions being advanced at the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development. According to him, continuity in such engagements is essential in ensuring that ideas discussed are translated into practical solutions that benefit African nations.
“We value the strong partnerships we have built and appreciate the continued support from our collaborators. This engagement reflects our shared commitment to shaping Africa’s development agenda through meaningful dialogue, innovation, and cooperation,” said Singo.
He also commended the Government of Ethiopia for hosting the forum and facilitating a smooth and efficient experience for international delegates. Singo further recognized the participation of youth representatives, policymakers, private sector actors, and civil society organizations, emphasizing that inclusive participation is key to achieving sustainable outcomes.
Singo highlighted that Africa stands at a critical moment where effective leadership, sound policies, and strategic management of natural resources are necessary to unlock long-term development. He stressed that institutions must work together to ensure that Africa’s resources—especially strategic minerals—are managed responsibly and contribute to industrialization, green growth, and job creation.
He further elaborated on the role of UONGOZI Institute as a regional leadership development institution operating under the Office of the President of Tanzania. Established in 2010 in collaboration with Finland, the institute is dedicated to inspiring African leaders to deliver inclusive and sustainable solutions for their nations and the continent at large.
According to Singo, the institute implements its mandate through executive leadership training, policy forums, research initiatives, and technical advisory services to governments and institutions. These programs are designed to strengthen leadership capacity, improve governance systems, and support evidence-based decision-making.
He added that the institute has remained committed to convening strategic dialogues that not only inform policy but also catalyze transformative action across sectors, including natural resources, governance, and economic development.
Through partnerships with organizations such as the African Union, European Union, and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the institute has contributed significantly to strengthening governance and management of Africa’s natural resources. These efforts aim to ensure that resource wealth translates into tangible socio-economic benefits for citizens.
Singo concluded by emphasizing that Africa’s future depends on collaboration, visionary leadership, and the ability to adapt to global changes, including climate challenges and shifting economic dynamics.
